HOURIGAN, RICHARD "RICH," 58, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 surrounded by his loving and devoted family after a courageous six year battle with lung cancer.
He was a member of St. Martha Catholic Church, the UAW and a long time member of Woodhaven Country Club. Rich was a graduate of the 1969 Class of Flaget High School. He was an avid golfer, bowler and sports enthusiast and played poker once a month with his close friends.
He was a former Little League coach for Hikes Point. His favorite sports teams to follow were the Yankees and the University of Kentucky.
Rich is preceded in death by his father, John J. Hourigan; a sister, Janice Key; and a brother, Michael Hourigan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Karen Hourigan; a daughter, Tara Kaelin (Jim); a son, Shaun Hourigan (Jessica), the love of his life, his five grandchildren, Anthony, Isabella, Hailey, Michael and Dylan. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Hourigan; and a brother, John Hourigan (Susan). His funeral Mass will be celebrated on March 12, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Saint Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at Ratterman and Son's funeral home, 3800 Bardstown Road.
