To accompany pic of Dorothy Abraham, Age 5 - Hythe 1920
Aged 5, Hythe: This is believed to be the only surviving photo of Dorothy from her childhood. She is aged five-years-old-old and is standing on the banks of the Royal Military Canal in Hythe. The Abrahams were living at 11 Portland Road at this time, which overlooks the canal. This snap was most probably taken by her parents just outside their home. Young Dolly looks sulky in the photo - and she has good reason to be. Just moments before this picture was taken, not wanting to wear her hat, she threw it on to the ground. Her mother gave her a slap across her knees, before forcing Dorothy to wear the hat for this wonderful photo.
